01
Shipping and Delivery

Because every Afrofa piece is made to order, there is a production time of 2–5 business days before your order is dispatched. Delivery typically takes a further 5–7 business days, though this can vary depending on your location and local postal services. Orders to more remote regions or during busy periods may take a little longer.

You will receive a tracking number by email as soon as your order has been dispatched.

Yes — we ship worldwide. Afrofa is based in Poland and our production partners ship globally, so wherever you are, we can get your order to you. Shipping costs and estimated delivery times are calculated at checkout based on your delivery address.

Depending on your country, your order may be subject to customs duties or import taxes upon arrival. These charges are set by your local government and are not something we are able to control or predict. They are the responsibility of the customer.

If you are unsure whether duties apply in your country, we recommend checking with your local customs authority before ordering.

Once your order has been produced and dispatched, you will receive a confirmation email with a tracking number. You can use this to follow your parcel’s journey via the carrier’s tracking page. If you have not received a tracking email within 7 business days of placing your order, please get in touch with us at hello@afrofa.com.

02
Returns and Exchanges

Because every Afrofa piece is made specifically for you when you place your order, we are not able to accept returns for change of mind. This is a core part of our commitment to zero overproduction — nothing is made speculatively, and nothing sits in a warehouse.

We take this seriously, which is why we work hard to provide accurate sizing information, detailed product descriptions, and responsive customer support before you buy. If you are unsure about anything, please contact us before ordering and we will help you make the right decision.

If your order arrives damaged, defective, or different from what you ordered, we will make it right. Please contact us at hello@afrofa.com within 14 days of receiving your order, with your order number and a photo of the issue. We will arrange a replacement or refund as quickly as possible.

Production begins shortly after an order is placed. If you need to cancel or make a change, please contact us at hello@afrofa.com as soon as possible. We will do our best to help, but we cannot guarantee changes can be made once production has begun.

03
Sizing and Fit

Our garments follow standard sizing from our production partner Printful. Each product page includes a size guide with chest, waist, and length measurements — we recommend measuring a garment you already own and comparing it to the size guide before ordering.

Our t-shirts have a regular, relaxed fit. If you prefer a closer fit, consider sizing down. If you are between sizes or unsure, feel free to contact us and we will advise you.

Our organic cotton garments may experience a small amount of shrinkage after the first wash, which is normal for natural fibres. To minimise shrinkage and keep your garment looking its best, we recommend washing at 30°C or lower, turning the garment inside out, and avoiding tumble drying where possible. Full care instructions are printed on the label inside your garment.

Our t-shirts are designed with a unisex fit. They are cut with a regular, straight silhouette that works across body types. Our hoodies have a slightly more relaxed cut. For both, we recommend checking the measurements on the size guide rather than relying on the letter size alone, as fit preferences vary.

04
Materials and Sustainability

Our garments are made from certified organic cotton — grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers and certified to recognised organic standards. Organic cotton uses significantly less water than conventional cotton and is better for the farmers who grow it and the soil it grows in.

The exact material composition for each product is listed on its product page.

Made-to-order is the most effective way to eliminate overproduction. When nothing is made until it is wanted, there is no surplus, no excess stock to discount, donate, or destroy. It is a deliberate choice that we believe every clothing brand should be making.

It does mean your order takes a little longer to arrive than something pulled from a shelf — but it also means every piece was made specifically for you, and nothing was wasted in the process.

Yes. We offset the carbon emissions from every shipment through verified carbon reduction programmes. We are committed to improving the quality and ambition of our offset approach over time as better tools become available.

Our packaging is minimal and plastic-free. We use recyclable materials throughout and are working toward fully compostable options. We believe the packaging something arrives in should not outlast the planet.

05
Orders and Payment

We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as PayPal and other payment methods available at checkout. All transactions are processed securely. We do not store your payment details.

Prices are shown in Polish Zloty (PLN) by default, as Afrofa is based in Poland. Depending on your location and browser settings, prices may be displayed in your local currency at checkout. The final charge will reflect the currency shown at the point of payment.

Order confirmation emails are sent automatically as soon as your order is placed. If you have not received one within a few minutes, please check your spam or junk folder first. If it is not there, contact us at hello@afrofa.com with the name and email address used for the order and we will look into it.

06
The Symbols

Adinkra symbols are a visual language of philosophy originating from the Akan people of Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire. Each symbol encodes a specific concept, proverb, or value — things like faith, humility, perseverance, love, and unity. They have appeared on royal textiles, architecture, and ceremonial objects for centuries.

At Afrofa, every design is built around one symbol and its meaning. We take the responsibility of working with this heritage seriously, and every piece we make includes an explanation of the symbol it carries.

We have a dedicated guide to all 18 Adinkra symbols featured in our collection — their names, their meanings, the proverbs behind them, and why they still matter today. You can find it at our Adinkra Symbols Guide.

This is a question we think about carefully. Our view is that wearing Adinkra symbols with genuine knowledge of and respect for their meaning is not appropriation — it is appreciation. The Akan philosophical tradition has always been generous in sharing its wisdom, and these symbols carry values that speak to all of humanity: faith, courage, perseverance, love, unity.

What we ask of everyone who wears Afrofa — regardless of background — is that they know what they are wearing and why. That is why we put the meaning of each symbol at the centre of everything we make. A symbol worn with understanding is a symbol that lives.

Yes. There are over 100 documented Adinkra symbols, and we are working through them with care — researching each one thoroughly before adding it to the collection. We would rather do this slowly and well than quickly and carelessly. New symbols are added regularly, so keep an eye on the store or sign up to our newsletter to be notified.
